Creeping of Pentecost

At this time there are always hints and rumours of Pentecost. The Spirit creeps in unannounced, yet her arrival has been spoken of all throughout the Good News. And we romanticise with rainbows and doves and flames and stuff. You know what, I need a Spirit that has a voice like Hilda Ogden from Coronation Street or has a bit of a character type like Tracy Beaker, or can strop with the best teenagers. I'd like the Spirit to have personality with tights, that actually means something rather than a big soft cushion.

Maybe it's just me but I think the church needs to give the Spirit a bit of a make-over. So we have a new Pentecost Game for this week and possibly next until we get to Pentecost and the winner is announced. It's a bit like Happy Families but the idea is to give a set of personality types to the Spirit. You're allowed four at each go to make up a Happy Family. Each Family being a family of the Spirit.

You can offer photographs too if you like.

My first family would be:
Hilda Ogden, Tracy Beaker, My niece who's 13 and Grizabella the glamour cat from the musical CATS. Now that would be one roudy dangerous Spirit.

But I bet you can do better.

Comments

Wee Ellen, Alex Salmond, Douglas (The Sheriff of Utah), and Marlon from "The Perishers".

And if the family are allowed a pet then it has to be Boot, the Old English Sheep Dog (also from the Perishers)

Ena Sharples, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jeremy Clarkson, Josh & Mia from Sunday School and for a pet - Tweety Pie

I'm not clever enough to be able to upload photos ! :(

Sunday Service

  • Fairly traditional with new creative moments each week. An attempt to engage all the senses with people who don't always go for the linear approach. Lots of questions and few answers, a little movement and lots of layers for all ages. A community attempting to grow, celebrate and adventure. Every week.

A collection of contemporary liturgies and creative moments from the last month in Abbotsford. If you'd like to receive a copy each month then just email the link at the top of the other column. To unsubscribe, do the same with UNSUBSCRIBE in the text body. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't but we believe (most of us) that it is worth being creative.
