Just done my carbon footprint again. On the Open University on it 10.5 which is no less than it was 6 months ago. That's not good. This time however, it includes my share of governmental cardon emissions such as that caused by defence, road building, administration and travel etc. I then did it on a different calculator and got 7.5 tonnes CO2 emissions excluding governmental ones so that is certainly better.I said I wouldn't buy clothes all year. I've broken that a few times but certainly reduced that by 50%. I've used the car less, no more long haul flights eah year, and eating far more vegetables and much less meat. Also turned down the temperature of the house and heating on less. Clothes I've bought - fleeces!!
Copenhagen Summit ought to be looking at 80% reduction on 1990 levels by 2050 (20% by 2020). It will never happen unfortunately though many countries have reduced theirs by more than they said they would at Kyoto. Then they were only looking for 5%. Easy. An 80% reduction takes the average UK household down to 2.5 tonnes CO2 emissions.
Go on and try again working out your carbon footprnt. The UK average is about 10.5 tonnes CO2. Can you do better than Copenhagen is looking for?
