Service seemed to go fine today. Things fitted, moments happened, words filled the space and hands were pasted to the tree.
And we're £40,000 richer towards our Arts Worker Project from the Parish Development Fund which is just brilliant. It's fantastic news and make it all more real and a little closer to happening. All the info is on the Exhibition Boards in the welcoming hall for everyone to see.
And with that, we move into the next week. That's the story that shapes what we do next Sunday. Had a bit of an interesting conversation this morning with someone who commented about how much the blog seems to come into sermons. That's true. But every conversation I have during the week shapes the sermon and the worship. I don't suppose people notice that because there iwas never any public conversation until now and so as we converse here, that influences what happens on a Sunday. Indeed it is proof that what happens and is said by God's People Monday - Saturday makes a difference to Sunday.
So with that in mind, this coming week is known as Shepherding Sunday. It is also a Baptism and we may have a few guests. The text is John 10:11-18 which is just part of a much longer section about Jesus being the Good Shepherd.
So any first thoughts? Music? What do we do with the tree without turning it into a sheep (or maybe we could....). What do you like about the shepherding image and what turns the lamb of God into Shaun the Sheep? And this bit about there being other sheep not of this sheepfold...
So over to you knowing that any word mentioned here is not lost. It's going to be great. (How can we turn the tree into a sheepfold...?)
