I've to do a talk on communion in September to a symposium looking at the place and practice of communion in the Church of Scotland. I'm on a task group looking at that. So I was wondering what I should do my 'paper' on. The idea has to be in by the end of the month. What would you be interesting in hearing a 20 minute talk and then discussion on?
Children and communion?
Creative communion without the magic?
bread and wine without the pomp and circumstance?
If you miss out the epiclesis, what will happen?
Finding communion in the nooks and crannies?
Enjoying communion in every story of the Bible?
These are just a few ideas based round our creative communion experiences, which don't do all the proper liturgy and often get it wrong and certainly find bread and wine within the stories we explore on a Sunday. Some are meditative, touchy-feely, visual, silent, action, reflective, led, vague etc.
So any thoughts on a way into a discussion about communion that is a little more controversial? We've had tonnes of discussion here about communion in the past. So what would you like discussed if you were there because one day you will be. And it will a major part
