I've been reflecting on communion since last week (reflection is something that goes on all the time especially over communion - a fabulous thing to happen because that brings us into being people of the bread and wine). I was down in Granville Island in Vancouver and they are a few fabulous grocer shops and bakers. I bought blueberry bread and apple and sesame seed bread. Both were fabulous.
So as a bit of a tangent to communion what kind of bread could we have that would symbolise who we are and what we do? For example what kind of bread would symbolise the diversity of our community> What recipe of bread would illustrate the hope we have? What variety of bread would be an image of justice, or the realm of God, or freedom? What ingredients would you put together to make your bread of choice for one of our next communion?
If they are possible, they will probably be brought to life at a breadmaker near you for one of our next communions, so let your creative juices flow and your imagination journey into the edible liturgy of the table.
