One of the great male preserves is to pretend we know what we're doing no matter what kind of technlogy comes along. Books of instructions are simply someone elses opinion on how the piece of technology works. And when you don't have to stand back very far to know those folk who are skating on thin ice with their technical vocabulary that doesn't have the know-how to match.
Have you ever heard of a 'root command'? I have and I think I know what it is but I've no idea where to find it on my computer which means I really ought not to go anywhere near it. Obviously it is the central, all-important, command line that is essential for the programme or whatever to work.
'Love one another just as I love you'. The root command. Problem is, of course, many of us just pretend we know what we are doing with that one as well.
