CAOS, our community arts project has been very busy during the summer with workshops for various groups in the community. I have been going to the family workshops with my... family (surprise, surprise) and they have all be fabulous. We've really done a lot, together; suff we don't do together normally, and had a huge amount of fun doing it.
Earlier today we were doing drama stuff which is something I, and other members of my family tend to back away from. But we were part of a gentle conspiracy to get us involved and find the confidence to do that. Then we discovered a lot of laughter, a huge amount of imagination in the children that were there and a generous and surprising pride in those we know we came away with stuff and showed skills and talents we knew they had but not that they were so good at them.
Everyone won. We created our own performance of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It's not Shakespeare but it was probably up there. Brilliant. I've added some photos because it really was excellent. These are the one's I've permission for from yesterday and the other workshops that have been part of the family series. There are others that should become legendary.
Community Arts works. I've experienced it myself. People change. So when CAOS comes your way, as it will in the next year in Clydebank, then I'd suggest you jump in because it really is a great way to discover things about yourself and others and discover the good things about each other.
