Tought I ought to give you a little more information about spill the beans. It's a group of local people who have got together to write resource material for their own congregations. There isn't really a Scottish flavoured resource out there. Spill the Beans isn't written in The Doric nor does it transport Jesus to the outskirts of Loch Lomond but it is written in the context of a few congregations in the Scottish mainline church.
It recognises we don't all have the massive Sunday Schools we used to have. It also recognises that story-telling is back and believes it is the way to share the faith. It's a bit like the way Jesus did it - go figure! It is home grown and home spun. It's not meant to take over the world, only our wee bit of it that stretches from Ayr to Blantyre via Glasgow and Hamilton which is big enough to be getting on with. It's from these places the wee group of writers and do-ers come from.
I suppose it is an attempt at doing church as we can and not as we can't. It's a bit messy, a bit still-to-be-thought-out completely (hopefully we'll never get there), a bit bite it and see, a bit interesting and a bit hopeful. It won't work for some and it might be just right for others. It's not a one-size-fits-all but it sort of fits where we find ourselves about now.
It's also free for anyone who wants to try it out. Go to the post below to find out more.
