I don't want to give this very false show any life but it seems to be slowly killing itself anyway. Does this mean the gloss is being removed from daft talent shows where we are given to believe everyone is a superstar? Probably not but that would be no bad thing.
Cheryl has gone for the bigger money and the chance of breaking into the US and gone for the American version of X factor, or is that a bit cynical? But perhaps the best lesson from X Factor is that it isn't the winner that seems to win but those in second place. They seem far better placed to succeed. Is this a wee Easter moment?
Having said that, I wasn't even second place in most things. Where does that leave me?
