WHO ARE WE? • We are married, not married, single, separated, divorced and remarried. • We are different generations of brothers, sisters, adults and children. • We are all genders and sexualities, lifestyles and experiences and a few prejudices too. • We are people very new to the church and many who have been here longer than they care to remember. • We are folks who know little about the Bible and those who know quite a bit about it. • We are Sunday morning only members and those who come to everything. • We are beginners on the journey of faith along with those who have travelled quite a distance. • We are people looking for something BIGGER in life. • We are a mix of explorers and traditionalists • We are people who want to be together: caring accepting and loving each other. But most of all... people who want to be together: caring, accepting and loving each other.

Leap Year day proposal...

 


29 FebIt's Leap Year day and as girls throughout the world take their big chance and go after their favourite 'HIM", with a view to marriage, we have a wee question...
How do you start an argument in church?
No! - It is a wee bit more specific than "Very easily" (though full points for an accurate answer).
 
At the risk of starting something which could get out of hand, we ask the question -
What is your favourite HYMN?
In fact let's go a wee bit further and ask three things…
1/ What is your favourite 'old' hymn & why?
2/ What is you favourite 'new' hymn & why?
3/ What hymn do you like least & why?

 This is open to everyone who reads this blog, not just those who meet at Abbotsford.

Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Day

So folks, we are on the eve of Lent and we need to use up all the eggs etc and have something nice before we give it all up.

That being the case, Sandra would like to know - what do you like on your pancakes?

The daylight hours are getting longer already...

SnowdropsWell! What happened to January?

I have never known a January to come and go so quickly, but here we are, already well into February and the birds are starting to sing again.
On Sunday, we had a second visit from the minister of the other local church with whom it is proposed we have a linkage. I think that I am safe to say that all went well and that the response was extremely positive.
We do have some serious decisions to make over the coming weeks and months. However, with everyone's help, and the enthusiasm that was shown over Christmas, I am certain that we can have a positive future and Abbotsford can go forward in a settled & positive way.

In this weeks N.T. reading, Mark 1:40-45, Jesus heals a man with Leprosy. He then tells him "Don't tell this to anyone".

I am afraid that I have to go in the opposite direction and would urge everyone at Abbotsford to go out and tell everyone that we are now in the 'Spring' of a new future.

Our house already has daffodils on the window sill, so Spring, and a new start, are not that far off.

I am well aware that not everyone has access to this blog, so there will be an article in the upcoming "Spring" edition of our magazine 'JIGSAW'.
