Our 'annual statistics' return (numbers, numbers, numbers) show that last year was not the best of years at Abbotsford in that we lost some 'well kent' faces from our congregation and they will be sadly missed.
The start of our roll purge left its own hole. Although it is never good to lose people from our roll, it was something that had to be faced and undertaken.
Having been in vacancy for the best part of two years, we could now be forgiven for feeling down and all but out.
But we are far from it!
I could try and score 'brownie points' and kid myself that it was my last post that did the trick, however it
was encouraging to see a good turnout this morning. The Sunday School also benefitted and like the green shoots starting to emerge from the cold, rain soaked ground outside, the signs of new life are there.
Life, as they say, goes on.

The feedback from our Christmas Services was exceptionally positive and we already have plans being put in place for Easter... with a lot to happen before then!
The positive side of the 'statistics' is that we had two new members join us last year and already have three waiting in the wings for this year. The three will hopefully be ready to join us as members by our March Communion.
That leaves us with our own hope and prayer for 2014... to have a full time Minister who will join us on the journey with our friends at Dalmuir Barclay.
Meanwhile we continue to enjoy the company of our Locum Minister, Revd. John Harris.
In almost a year with us, John has shown untiring enthusiasm and an unrelenting wish to go that extra distance to ensure that we are well looked after.
Yes, Abbotsford is alive!
