WHO ARE WE? • We are married, not married, single, separated, divorced and remarried. • We are different generations of brothers, sisters, adults and children. • We are all genders and sexualities, lifestyles and experiences and a few prejudices too. • We are people very new to the church and many who have been here longer than they care to remember. • We are folks who know little about the Bible and those who know quite a bit about it. • We are Sunday morning only members and those who come to everything. • We are beginners on the journey of faith along with those who have travelled quite a distance. • We are people looking for something BIGGER in life. • We are a mix of explorers and traditionalists • We are people who want to be together: caring accepting and loving each other. But most of all... people who want to be together: caring, accepting and loving each other.

Quiz Night at Faifley Parish Church

Prizes

A great quiz  night once again at Faifley, with 17 teams competing for the coveted bronze, silver & gold medals. Add tea & goodies to the equation and what more could you ask for, other than to win a medal.

Suffice to say that Abbotsford had a good night (yet again!)... WINNING GOLD & BRONZE with two teams  ranging in age from 21 to eighty... er... something!


Roll on next week when we travel to Dalmuir Barclay to defend our win there (Did I hear someone mention that we won there last time too???)

A good  FUN night... and well done to all who took part!

The power of the Blog...

In the past few days our website has had hits from (among over 100 other locations)...

Manchester, New Jersey, Sheffield, Kwun Tong, São Paulo, Wellington, Puyallup, Ribeirão Pires, Brisbane, Brazilia, California, Denver and Elk Grove. Most are passing ships in the night but every now and again sombody takes the time to drop us an email and it is nice when they do.

I received the following email from Arizona yesterday...

I came across your website while surfing on the web. I have happy memories of my association with Clydebank West Church as a member of the 10th BB in the late fifties (Bobby Hope and Stewart Hillis were my peers if anyone remembers). I remember Captain Murdoch and Reverend Stewart Borthwick who I recall wrote me a very nice reference letter.

I have now written back to Andrew, and given him a wee update of what is happening in these parts and it turns out that he also knew my cousin from his days at Glasgow University. My cousin & I have the same name!

It's a small world and if anyone else remembers Andrew, or if you have any memories of him, then please do post here.

SPRING FAYRE 2014

Tonight, we had our first meeting to discuss ideas for this year's 'Spring Fayre', and it was great to have twenty eager people round the table with apologies from at least 5 others who just couldn't make it on the night. It was especially heartening that it wasn't just representatives from church organisations who were there, but also individuals, eager and willing to be involved in whatever way they can.
 
The meeting lasted 90 minutes and it was good to have started the ball rolling in what will be a necessary money making effort to keep ourselves 'buoyant'. We meet again in two weeks!

Yes, I know its Lent (but this WAS in a good cause!)

Today, to mark the end of Fairtrade fortnight, the children of our Sunday School (with a little help from their teachers) showed off their skills by making goodies from Fair Trade Products. We had Meringues, Banana and Chocolate Chip Loaf, and Choclolate Chip Muffins.

To round it all off everyone from the congregation was given their own "Cuppa Card" containing a tea bag (or coffee) and sachet of sugar... all fairly traded!
