Not sure where the time has gone since Easter but a lot has been happening in Abbotsford as we come to the end of the 2014 - 2015 session for our organisations.
Last week we celebrated Pentecost and 'Craft Daft', in conjunction with our minister Ruth, decided to go for a simpler theme to decorate the chancel, dispensing with the triptych based artwork used in previous years. Flame coloured cloths were hung from the cross, with a dove suspended above the Communion Table. To complete the scene, a number of candles were placed on the Communion Table to remind us that Pentecost is looked upon as the birthday of the Church.
It is always good to get feedback and a number of people have commented favourably on the simplicity.
Sometimes we can get stuck in a rut and too wrapped up in the comfort of familiarity. We just don't like stepping outside our comfort zone to new ways of doing things!
That positive feedback was good to hear. It appears that the change has been for the good!
Yesterday, Trinity Sunday, the Sunday School children were presented with gifts to finish their busy year. To show their appreciation and round off what turned out to be a lovely day after early rain, they invited members of the congregation to join them for a trip to Mugdock Country Park for a barbecue. Over 30 people made the trip and enjoyed fun, games and food (with many thanks to Iain Davidson for his BBQ skills). Pictures from the day can be found in the 'Mugdock' Photo Album below right.
