The wettest Summer since records began!
Hottest day recorded in UK at the start of July (37deg) ...
Coldest night recorded in UK at the end of July (1deg).
Yes, the weather hasn't exactly been settled this Summer, but it has had its nice moments nevertheless.
Just before the children stopped for their holidays, our local school, Whitecrook Primary, came along to Abbotsford for their end of term service. As a token of their appreciation they brought with them some seedlings that they had planted in class. On the following Sunday the congregation were invited to take a pot.
While clearing up before leaving that Sunday, I noticed one wee pot with a sad looking seedling of unknown origin clinging on for life and in need of a good soaking. About all it had going for it was the brightly decorated pot (presumably done by the children) in which it had been planted.
That was over a month ago, but that wee plant has now brightened many a dull day beside my greenhouse.
It has grown into a lovely petunia and I attach a pic just to let you enjoy it too!
A wee bit care was all it needed and it in turn has provided a much needed dash of colour.
Thank you to Whitecrook Primary and I hope that you are all enjoying your holidays!
