Following up on the Church of Scotland's 'Weekend of Invitation' initiative, Waterfront held its own 'weekend' of events.
To kick things off yesterday (Saturday), we had the annual 'Sunday School Autumn Coffee Morning'. As always this was well attended with the congregation, relatives, friends and (very importantly) visitors, all helping to make it a happy event and in doing so raise an amazing £440 for church funds. Well done to everyone involved in whatever way!
This morning was our 'Harvest Thanksgiving Service' and this year the Kirk Session decided to ask the congregation to invite someone along for a FREE Lunch afterwards. Despite the sunshine of yesterday having been replaced with torrential rain, a very healthy turnout took part in a service in which the Sunday School were heavily involved with singing, prayers and the serving of Communion. Once again a joyful family service (entitled the 'Hope of Salvation') lead by Ruth and it was great that most of the folks who had come along for the Harvest Service stayed for the wonderful lunch laid on by a team of helpers.
Although we had a display of produce (the packets and tins will go to West Dunbartonshire Foodbank), our main Harvest Appeal was once again for monetary donations towards the work of Glasgow City Mission
A great weekend (as always) to be at Waterfront! (click one all pics for a larger view)
