'I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope'...Psalm 130:Verse 51
There are now only days to wait until the big day and strangely enough that is probably the one thing that people appear to be doing a lot of this year.
WAITING!
The postal strike has probably been partly to blame for the apparent lack of Christmas Cards as we WAIT for the post to arrive.
With one or two exceptions, even the Christmas displays outside people's homes seem to be subdued. Perhaps the recent cold snap has been to blame and people are WAITING for it warming up a little, before venturing out.
Supermarkets shelves are far from overflowing with Christmas goodies and it hardly seems worth it to travel into town... you may have to WAIT some time for a train even if you pluck up the enthusiasm. It is much easier to shop online and simply WAIT for the delivery van to turn up!
Folks in congregations all over Scotland have also been waiting... and WAITING... to find out if they have sung their last Carol in the church which they have been brought up and nurtured in since they themselves were but babes in arms.
The 'Bleak Mid Winter' right enough!
So what do we do while we are WAITING for the birth of the Child beloved and fair?
Perhaps we need look no further than the last words of Psalm 130, verse 51, as quoted above, and put OUR hope in His word!
May you not have to wait too long for Hope, Peace, Joy & Love to fill YOUR Christmas!
ALL GOOD WISHES...
FROM ALL AT CLYDEBANK WATERFRONT PARISH CHURCH.
